Learning and Library Services
LRC (Learning Resources Centre)
A dedicated LRC can be found on both campuses, these areas are a bright, welcoming space for study as well as learning events. The friendly and knowledgeable staff will support students with their studies with advice on course work, help to find the resources they need and guide them on the use of computers.
The LRC includes spaces for silent study and group work. Throughout the year it is also used as a hub for events that encourage and celebrate learning and employability. We host careers events, student art shows, the health and wellbeing marketplace, as well as themed information days such as internet safety and mental health awareness.
The LRC links up to the library so not only do we provide books and other resources, we also can provide electronic equipment (at Lowestoft campus for loan only) to help with studies and activities as well as having a great-value shop at each campus selling equipment and stationery.
For more information regarding the Learning Services team please visit here.
The Library is open all year (times change out of term) so students can always visit for some quiet study and to use our resources. You can check opening dates and times on Moodle or by calling the Library on Great Yarmouth: 01493 419220 or Lowestoft: 01502 525169.
Digital Skills, including Moodle
ECC uses a online learning system (known as a Virtual Learning Environment 'VLE') called Moodle, which is also used by many of the top schools and universities throughout the world. Moodle allows students to access course materials, gain feedback, contact tutors, upload work, see grades and much more all by logging in to their very own online account which is accessible both on and off college. All work is stored and accessible from your first day of the course to your last, ready for you to work towards the qualification of your choice.
We can offer additional support for most digital skills, this can be 1 to 1 or as a group with re-bookable meetings if required. It maybe a simple refresh session on certain elements of software or a full talk through. Self help, free software and extra learning support pages can be found here. If you need further advice please email email@example.com.
