- Virtual taster session
Thank you to everyone who attended our virtual taster session. It was great to meet so many of you and have the opportunity to explore social media in preparation for your summer project. The topic is also the main theme for one of your first year units, so your new knowledge will be useful when you start the course in September.
The presentation slides we used for the session have been uploaded to this site (just click on the link below!) so that you can remind yourself of the activity we completed together.
See you at enrolment!

- Summer task
Each year, we set a task for new students to complete over the summer. It gives you the chance to develop the learning skills that you'll need for the course through researching a topic that you'll be studying as part of the course. This year, developing your skills is more important than ever, as you won't have been in a traditional education setting for over five months.
This year's task is shown below.
- The future is IT
It's always good to see what might happen in the future. Here are two videos that give us a glimpse into a strange and wonderful future - all powered by information technology. Please watch the videos and then reflect on what you've found out by answering the questions.
- Challenge yourselfYou might not be able to physically go to school at the moment, but that doesn't mean you have to stop learning.
We know from experience that the online learning landscape can be bewildering; there are so many choices available that it can be difficult to know where to start. That's why we've put together this section, it showcases some of the resources that we think would be helpful preparation for the BTEC Information Technology course.
Complete as many as you want to, some just run for a few hours, others require more of a commitment. Just remember, the more you learn, the better prepared you will be!
- Find out more and make the right choiceIt's a big step up from school to post-16 education, regardless of whether you decide to go to college, stay on at your school sixth form, or get an apprenticeship. Within the BTEC IT course, we have three different qualifications for you to choose from, depending on what your future plans are.
Watch the two videos below and then start to plan for your future!
